Mechanical Design Engineer

The role involves supporting the design, manufacture, and installation of hoisting and conveyance systems for the underground mining and heavy civil construction industries.
Day to Day of the role:
Analyse, engineer, design, and support a variety of manufacturing projects from concept to operation.
Design and specify system components of products to ensure conformance with engineering best practices and performance specifications.
Develop standards for existing product lines and provide pre-sales, project, and aftermarket product support.
Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
Design mechanical systems, structures, and components, and work with vendors to acquire off-the-shelf components.
Design modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components.
Review designs to ensure fit, function, and accuracy of engineering.
Ensure compliance with safety standards related to systems, structures, and components.
Test and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
Travel intermittently, up to 25% as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
4 or more years of experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering; emphasis on machine design is beneficial.
Strong project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with hoists or hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus.
Proficiency in Drawing Development, GD&T, Welding Specifications, and Document Control.
