We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst with a strong foundation in Agile methodologies and software development practices for a contract role at a client in Houston, Texas. In this hybrid/onsite role, you'll collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to translate business needs into high-impact technology solutions.
This contract role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the software development lifecycle, and enjoys optimizing systems to drive business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between business units and Agile development teams to gather and define user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for system enhancements or automation.
- Create detailed documentation including process flows, wireframes, and technical specifications.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives).
- Collaborate with developers and QA to ensure clear understanding of requirements and successful implementation.
- Support backlog grooming and prioritization in partnership with Product Owners.
- Perform impact analysis and support user acceptance testing (UAT) and rollout.
- Continuously assess and improve the efficiency of business systems and recommend scalable solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably in Agile environments.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development lifecycles (SDLC).
- Hands-on experience working with development teams; basic understanding of coding concepts is a plus.
- Proficient in tools like JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, and Lucidchart.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with database querying (SQL), APIs, or basic scripting.
- Background in software or web application development (a plus, not required).
- Exposure to DevOps environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), or PMI-ACP are a plus.
